For many small business owners generating leads for their business can be at huge cost.
The costs for generating leads never seems to end … you have to pay for logo design, business cards, flyers, advertisments, joining networking groups, sponsoring associations of your target market, web site design, web site hosting, and on and on it goes, right?
Big problem with this is that if generating leads costs you money then you eventually get to a point where you run out of money.
Now this is okay if you see a direct return on the cost of this lead generation ie you directly achieve a new paying client from each lead generation initiative. The reality is, especially in a service based business, it rarely happens.

1/ Identify a school of Hungry Fish – where do they gather. Go fishing where the hungry fish are gathered. Think about going deep into the right niche.
2/ Find out what they are hungry for – it may not be what you think. Orient your business offering around what they want.
3/ Position yourself amongst them and become part of the conversation. Become recognised as a person of authority amongst the fish.
4/ Utilise leverage in your business model. Use a net to fish rather than a single line.
5/ Have a structured product funnel that you systematically lead them through from Free to high end client.
6/ Know You, Like You, Trust You … or how to create TOMA. <<< This is critical. Do not apply mass market product style marketing to a knowledge based niche service provider business.
7/ Turn them into Raving Fans – Create buzz about your business by having everyone talk about you. Provide them with the tools to make it easy to refer you. (Click on the Share This icon and share this blog with a small business owner you know as an example).
If you can structure your small business around these 7 key areas then you will easily attract your ideal customer to you. Failure to do so may lead to your business becoming invisible and suffering a lack of paying clients.
